1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how GOEV ("we", "us") collects and uses information when you use goev.lk. You can contact us at info@goev.lk.
2. Information we collect
- Google sign-in: when you sign in we receive your name, email address and profile photo from your Google account. We never see your Google password.
- Sign-in record: when you sign in we keep your name, email, photo, the date you first joined, your last sign-in time and how many times you have signed in. Our administrator can see this list and can block an account that breaks our terms.
- Listings you post: vehicle details, price, location, description, photos and an optional phone number. These are shown publicly on the website along with your name.
- Contact form: the name, email and message you send us.
- Usage data: pages visited, clicks, device and browser type, approximate location and similar information collected through Google Analytics.
- Saved cars: the cars you save are stored in your own browser.
3. How we use your information
- To let you sign in and to create, edit and delete your listings.
- To show listings to visitors and let buyers contact sellers.
- To reply to your messages.
- To understand how the website is used and to improve it.
- To keep the website secure and prevent misuse.
4. Who can see your information
Anything you put in a listing, including your name, photos and phone number, is visible to everyone. Only add a phone number if you are happy for buyers to see it. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Services we use
We use trusted providers to run the website. They may process your information on our behalf and under their own privacy policies:
- Google and Firebase (sign-in, database and analytics);
- Google Maps (charging station maps);
- Formspree (delivering contact form messages);
- our website hosting provider.
These providers may store data on servers outside Sri Lanka.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
The website and its providers use cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in, remember your saved cars and measure usage. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some features may stop working.
7. How long we keep information
We keep your account details while your account is active. When you delete a listing it is removed from the website. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
8. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable data protection laws in Sri Lanka, you may ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. You can edit or delete your listings at any time from My posts, and you can sign out at any time. To make a request, email info@goev.lk.
9. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, such as secure connections and access rules on our database. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
The website is not intended for people under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
